Dreams Remembered: Writing Power

September 20, 2023 bhillay

I woke up in the middle of the night after having one of the most profound dreams, those enlightening ones where everything clicks and makes sense. I was so eager to wake up and write about the lesson from my dream, but the problem is… I can’t remember it anymore.

We usually remember several dreams each night, but we often forget many of them upon waking up. What I should have done was write the dream down to remember it. The same applies to life. We may have big dreams and goals, but they may not come true because perhaps we didn’t write them down. Writing down your goals helps you remember and stay focused on what you want to achieve.

Whether it’s dreams at night or in real life, write them down. Look at them often and remind yourself of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. We all have great dreams that have slipped away, but just like at night, more dreams will come. Go chase them.

Don’t Try It, You’ll Like It

February 9, 2023 bhillay

The phrase “try it, you’ll like it” has been used for decades in commercials, songs, and just everyday life. Odds are you’ve probably said it to someone or someone has said it to you when trying to offer you something you’ve never tried before.

My mom learned the phrase “don’t try it, you’ll like it” from her pastor once upon a time, and she passed that philosophy down to me when I was young. This has helped me make better choices throughout my life.

There are a lot of vices in life that we should not try because we might like them. Things such as drugs, infidelity, porn, sexual activities, stealing, etc. A lot of people’s addictions started off by them trying something that they might like. I know I have additive genes and have seen firsthand the dangers of drug addiction. Because of this, I know not to try drugs because I might like them. I can’t take that risk.

Before you try something, you have to think about all of the consequences. What if you do like it after you try it. What comes after that? Addiction? Sins? A lifestyle change for the worst? Who knows.

Be cautious of those who offer you to try new things also. Most people like to sin with others. They might not have your best interest in mind. If someone offers you to try something that can have a negative impact on your life, do they really care about you?

There are a lot of things in life that that we might like in which we should never try for that very reason. Make sure the things you try and will potentially like, aligns with who you want to be as a person and your morals and beliefs. When in doubt, don’t try it, you might like it.
