Run your race

Life is like running track. You might have the same goals and objectives as your competitors, but you have to run your own race.

A lot of times we like to compare ourselves to the competition, or to our peers. In track, you’re taught to never look at your opponents while racing. Something as small as a head turn can slow you down and even cost you the race. In life, it can be counterproductive to worry too much about what other are doing or where they are in life. It’s best to focus on yourself because no one can run your race but you, and everyone is focused on their own race.

There are also times in races when one individual looks as if they are ahead of others, but as the race progresses, you realize that they are actually behind the competition. Everyone runs the same distance in track, but they are all staggered on the track depending on what lane they are in. Same goes for life. The only difference is in life, you’re your only competition. There’s no need to worry how far head or behind someone is because they might have a different finish line than you.

Just like track, you decide in life how well you do. It’s the practice and work that you put in, and the life choices that you make that matters most. We can all win though, so run your race, and finish.
