Balancing Advice and Authenticity in Life

There is a delicate balance between taking the advice and guidance of others and forging your own path.

In certain aspects of life, there will always be individuals with more experience than you who can offer assistance. However, this does not necessarily mean that they possess all the answers.

Although I may desire the best for someone and offer my counsel, it is ultimately up to them whether or not they choose to heed it. I am content with this outcome. It is crucial to listen to others, while also embracing your own unique qualities and devising your approach to a situation. As Drake once said, “as long as the outcome is income,” or as long as the intentions and results of a circumstance are positive.

The key is to strike a balance between accepting advice from others and following your instincts or natural inclinations.

Your Unique Journey

Comparison can be a dangerous game. It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and feel like you’re not measuring up. But the truth is, everyone’s journey is different. You can’t compare your own path to someone else’s because they haven’t faced the same challenges or experienced the same successes as you.

As they say, “comparison is the thief of joy.” When you constantly compare yourself to others, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment and feelings of inadequacy. Instead of focusing on what you lack, it’s important to compare yourself to your past self.

If you’re not happy with where you stand in life, that’s okay. Use it as motivation to make progress. It’s crucial to recognize that progress looks different for everyone. Someone else’s achievements don’t invalidate your own accomplishments.

Don’t forget that the only thing you have control over is your own journey. You can’t control how quickly others progress, but you can control your own progress. Life isn’t a race, and there’s no prize for reaching the finish line first.

It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison game, but it’s important to remember that you’re on your own unique journey. Comparing yourself to others will only lead to feelings of inadequacy and disappointment. Instead, celebrate your progress and focus on your own personal growth.

Developing Your Natural Gifts

Many of us have natural gifts or a great vision for something, but lack the necessary skills to achieve our goals. Although someone may be less naturally talented than you, they can surpass you by putting in the work to learn the craft. Therefore, it is important to follow your instincts and pursue the things you are naturally good at and interested in, while also learning the skills required to reach your full potential.

Your future and success depend on your willingness to develop your natural gifts. Take the time to explore your passions and develop your skills, even if it requires a lot of effort and hard work. This will enable you to reach your full potential and achieve your goals.

It is important to remember that developing your natural gifts is a process that requires dedication, hard work, and perseverance. You must be willing to learn, grow, and push through setbacks in order to achieve success. But with patience and determination, you can overcome any obstacle and reach your full potential.

Pursuing your passions and developing your natural gifts is crucial to achieving success. Don’t let your lack of skills hold you back from achieving your goals. Take the time to learn and grow, and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. Your future and success are waiting for you, so go out there and pursue your dreams.

The Power of Repetition

I’ve written a blog post every day for over 100 days. Now it’s to the point where I can do it daily, without much thought. Some days I forget what I even wrote. It’s as if I’ve trained myself to tap into this state of mind that allows me to think and write, without even realizing that I am doing it.

When we do something repeatedly, our brains allow us to perform that task more efficiently and effectively over time. It can be a good thing when we are doing something productive or positive, like writing a blog or exercising regularly. I’ve realized that it can also be a bad thing when we are engaging in negative behaviors that become automatic and difficult to change.

Me realizing that I can write a blog everyday automatically, made me think of the negative things that I do automatically. I’m sure there’s a lot of things that I don’t even notice. Im gonna make it an effort to try to find those negative habits and change them into something more positive and productive.

It’s important to be aware of our habits and behaviors, both positive and negative, and work to consciously shape them in a way that supports our goals and values.

The Importance of Every Relationship

Every person we encounter and every relationship we have in our lives shapes us in some way, whether it’s a positive or negative experience. These experiences contribute to our growth and development as individuals, and ultimately shape our character.

Each relationship, no matter how long or short, serves a purpose in our journey towards becoming the person we are meant to be.

We may not be friends, associates, lovers, teammates, or enemies anymore, but I appreciate the times when we were. You helped me become who I am, rather good, or bad.

Embrace and appreciate every interaction you have with someone. Embrace both good and bad experiences. Use them all to become the best version of yourself.

Don’t Wait to Change

Don’t wait to change for the better. You don’t know how long you have to change. It’s important to prioritize our personal growth and make positive changes to our lives, not just for ourselves but for the people around us who could benefit from our progress (they are most likely the ones that are hurting from our lack of progression also).

We never know how much time we have, so it is important to act with urgency and make the most of the time we do have. Let others see the change. Let them see that it’s possible. Let yourself see that it’s possible also. The time is now.

The Importance of Presence

Having a newborn baby is a life-changing experience that really makes you realize the importance of the present moment. As a parent, I am responsible for my baby’s wellbeing and future. That requires me to be fully present and attentive here and now. It makes me understand that I don’t know everything, and makes me want to learn something new everyday to become a better and more efficient parent. It also teaches me to appreciate the small moments and milestones that make up my baby’s growth and development.

Parenthood has taught me to stay in the present as opposed to dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. I know if I do what’s needed at this very moment, everything else will work itself out. It’s hard to think about anything else when your baby is hungry or needs their diaper changed, and that’s ok.

I now understand the importance of presence. Not just with my baby, but in all avenues of life. It’s really about doing the most important thing right now, then moving on to the next most important thing. Rather it’s my baby or my life, I know if I stay present and do what’s needed in that moment, the future will handle itself. Because “the future of the future is the present”

Embrace the Pain

There was a time when whenever I had any aches or pains in my body, I would go take some ibuprofen. I’m hesitant to do that now because I know that’s not the only solution, and it’s not good for your body to take a lot of ibuprofen. One time I dislocated my thumb during a football game in college and the doctor gave me an injection to make it numb. I was back in the game like nothing happened. My thumb was wrapped up, but it was still in a precarious position, so once that numbing wore off, I was in even more pain. I caused even more damaged by continuing to play as if nothing was wrong with my thumb. I would have played differently and protected my thumb differently if I could’ve felt the pain.

Sometimes it’s good to embrace the pain. Pain can often be a signal that something is not right, and it can help us to identify and address the underlying issue. In medicine, pain can be an important indicator of a patient’s condition, and it can help doctors to diagnose and treat the problem. In real life, pain can also help us to learn from our mistakes, make adjustments, and develop resilience. While pain can be difficult to endure, it can ultimately lead to personal growth and a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

We can’t always resort to drugs to get over the pain. Whether it’s over-the-counter drugs, prescription, or street drugs. Maybe you don’t use drugs to get over the pain and have some other type of vice, like food, sex, alcohol, anything. Those things may feel helpful in the moment, but when that numbness wears off, you might have done even more damage, and be in even more pain, like how my thumb was.

Embrace the pain. Feel it. Learn from it. Adjust, and grow.

Breaking Free from Limitations

Sometimes we just gotta think bigger. There’s a lot more things that we can achieve in life if we simply believe we can actually achieve them. You can’t have those negative thoughts about yourself, such as: “ I’m not smart enough,” “I’m not good enough,” “ I’ll never be able to do that”. Self-limiting beliefs can prevent us from reaching our full potential and achieving our goals. It’s important to recognize and challenge these beliefs in order to grow and succeed.

Always give yourself the benefit of the doubt that you can do it. You can reach that big goal, you can move to a new city, you can lose weight, you can be consistent, you can get your degree, etc. Whatever it is, believe you can do it. Don’t limit yourself. Think bigger.

Frustration to Positive Change

It’s good to be bothered at times. Being bothered can be the catalyst for change, whether it’s from our own actions, or the actions of others. When we are bothered, it can motivate us to make positive changes in our lives. It can also motivate us to address issues with others and work towards a change.

Embrace being bothered, then make the changes in life that will lead to you being unbothered and to positivity.
