Your body tells the truth

I love the human body because it tells the objective truth. We often like to lie to ourselves, but the body keeps it real.

The body is just a reflection of our actions. If I eat unhealthy food and do not exercise, my body will soon respond and let me know. I might begin to gain weight, my joints might begin to hurt, my energy might begin to decrease. If I do not take proper care of my dental hygiene, my teeth may decay or change in color. If I don’t get enough sleep, I may get bags under my eyes. No matter the result, I can’t get mad at nobody (no pun intended) but myself for the way I look and feel.

It’s key to become one with our body, and to also listen and respond properly to our body. At all times our body is telling us things. Unfortunately, we don’t always listen. That is bad. In sports, not listening to your body can result to injuries. In life, not listening to your body can result to death.

The body is honest and can teach us about life. It is key to control what we can control. When you properly control your body, it will respond positively.

Another lesson our body can give us is that we are not in control of everything. There are a lot of things that can happen to our bodies like cancers, diseases, sicknesses, that we can not control. That is ok. We must focus on the things that we can control. Can’t worry and stress about things not in our control.

Life is the same way. Our lives are a reflection of our actions. At the same time, there are things in our life that is out of our control. Focus on what you can control, and let God handle the rest. Rather it’s your body or your life, you can control your actions and your attitude. Make sure both are consistent to your body & life goals. If you don’t have any body or life goals, make some. If not, you’re allowing something or someone else to make them for you.

Do it because you can

We have dominion over everything in life. That’s how God made it for us. With that being said, we have to keep that dominion in all aspects of life, at all times.

There are times when the thought/feeling of “ I don’t feel like doing this” kicks in my head. It can be something as simple as not feeling like working out today. Whenever I have that thought or feeling, I force myself to go workout because I have the dominion over my life. I can’t let laziness have dominion over me and control what I can and can’t do.

There will be times you will not feel like doing something that you know you should do. You should do it because you can. It’s a reminder to yourself that you are in control, and a reminder of your blessings.

We all have our vices. Make sure you are in control of that vice, and that the vice isn’t in control of you. I know people who feel as if they can’t function a certain way unless they smoke weed, or drink alcohol or something else. They might not realize it, but they are giving something else control of their lives.

We all have gifts. There are things that you are capable of doing that others can’t. That’s why you should do it. I post a blog every day because I can and I’m willing. It’s that simple.

Doing things cause you can is valuable because it will teach you how to be consistent, and just give you the confidence that will help you achieve more than those who only do things when they feel like it.

Uncertainty can be a good thing

It’s good to be uncertain about things in life at times. Whenever I’m too certain about my life, that’s when I realize that I am being complacent. Most of the success in my life came after uncertainty.

I wasn’t certain what college would give me a full ride scholarship. I wasn’t certain who I’d marry, I wasn’t certain what NFL team would sign me. Most things I can’t predict. I like it that way. It really tests my faith in God and myself.

I’m never too certain about my future, but I do know that certain actions and choices lead to success, and some lead to failure. I’m always certain that if I follow the teachings of God, follow the laws of success and follow my heart, I’ll be good. God will handle the rest.

Right where you should be

Wherever you are in your life right now, that’s exactly where you should be. Rather that’s physically, financially, mentally, emotionally.

Our past decisions dictate where we currently are in the present. Rather you’re happy with where you are or not, it was all your choice. Just accept that, and make the choices you need to make to be where you want to be in the future. You can’t change the past, but if you make the appropriate choices in the present, you’ll be right where you should be in the future. Go get it.

You are paid for what you master

Any craft or skill that you can master, can make you a lot of money. Professional athletes have to master certain skills in their sport to get to the professional level. In return, they make a lot of money. Same goes for singers, entrepreneurs, content creators, doctors, chefs, salesmen, anyone.

You master things by putting in a lot of practice and hard work. We all have God given gifts. Those are the easiest things to master. Master those gifts and you will be highly rewarded.

You can also master bad things. You can master scamming, selling drugs, bad business ethics, killing, lying, being lazy, anything. You might think you’ll be paid in cash or something positive for mastering such things, but in reality you’ll always be paid in something negative when you master something negative. That can be prison, guilt, stress, death. Who knows.

Master positive things. Master your gifts. Master the things that truly bring you happiness and positivity. You will be paid for it for sure. Go master something this year.

‘Enjoy your sleep while you can’

The first piece of advice that parents say to those who will soon be first-time parents is “enjoy your sleep while you can”. I understand that that is probably good advice, and you won’t get much sleep as a new parent, but, is that a bad thing?

Having a baby is one one the biggest and most beautiful blessings in life. I’d much rather experience precious time with my baby than to sleep any day.

I think the saying “enjoy your sleep while you can” can go towards anything that you are truly passionate about and care about. When you really care about something (or someone), sleep should be the least of importance. When you’re expecting a baby, you enjoy your sleep until your baby comes. After that, parenthood really kicks in, and there are things that need to be done with your baby that are more valuable than sleeping.

If you have big goals and aspirations in life, but you’re still enjoying your sleep a little too much, maybe you haven’t really started to pursue that goal of yours yet. The same way I can still enjoy my sleep right now because my baby hasn’t been born yet.

Nothing comes to sleepers but a dream. Wake up and follow your dreams. It’s possible.

You never know who’s watching

You never know who is paying attention to your moves. You never know who is out there supporting you. You never know who looks up to you.

Make sure you are living your truth, but also make sure to be a good person in general. There are a lot of people who I’ve watched and looked up to over the years who don’t even know it. I might have began to watch them from a football player standpoint, but now I watch them as a man, husband and father. Their actions still have an influence on my life. No matter who who are, there is always someone watching. Rather it’s your parents, kids, peers, random people, or just God.

Our actions speak much louder than our words. Treat everyone nicely, and whatever you do in life; never give up. There’s someone out there who will go through a similar situation who needs to see your hard work and perseverance in order for them to do the same one day.

How would you want to be viewed by others? What message would you like to give those who watch you? Be that person right now. Someone is watching already.

Run your race

Life is like running track. You might have the same goals and objectives as your competitors, but you have to run your own race.

A lot of times we like to compare ourselves to the competition, or to our peers. In track, you’re taught to never look at your opponents while racing. Something as small as a head turn can slow you down and even cost you the race. In life, it can be counterproductive to worry too much about what other are doing or where they are in life. It’s best to focus on yourself because no one can run your race but you, and everyone is focused on their own race.

There are also times in races when one individual looks as if they are ahead of others, but as the race progresses, you realize that they are actually behind the competition. Everyone runs the same distance in track, but they are all staggered on the track depending on what lane they are in. Same goes for life. The only difference is in life, you’re your only competition. There’s no need to worry how far head or behind someone is because they might have a different finish line than you.

Just like track, you decide in life how well you do. It’s the practice and work that you put in, and the life choices that you make that matters most. We can all win though, so run your race, and finish.

What if…?

No room for “what if”s in life. Make sure you you follow through with all ideas. Make sure you pursue what makes you happy. Give all you got in whatever you do and leave the rest to God. When it’s all said and done, you won’t have to ask “what if?”.

All the choices that we make have consequences. Make sure you make the decisions in life in order to not ask “what if” in regret.

I ask myself “what if” at times though. I ask “what if I would have quit too early, would if I would have gave up too soon?”. That’s a “what if” that I am fine with never knowing.

A clean slate

I look at every day as a clean slate do the things I intended on doing the day before, but didn’t. A clean slate to go workout or start that diet that I’ve been meaning to start. A clean slate to head in the direction towards my goals.

I’ve learned not to be so hard on myself about the daily goals and tasks that I do not accomplish, but also make sure I do not get complacent and accept the feeling of failure. Every day will not go as planned, but you have to have the mindset and optimism that today can be as productive as needed. We can’t control a lot of things in life. We can control our attitude and effort though. You might not do something that you intended on doing today, and you might have a good reason why you didn’t do it. Just make sure to do it tomorrow.

All you need is one good and productive day to get things rolling. You just need one day to start practicing those good habits. After that, you build on that day and continue to get better and practice those good habits. If you slip up and have a bad day, that’s ok. You’ll have a clean slate tomorrow. Just try strive to get better daily and do a little more than you did yesterday.
