If LeBron James wasn’t great at basketball, he probably wouldn’t have 148 million followers on Instagram and have fans all over the world. If Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t great at soccer, he probably wouldn’t have 561 million followers on Instagram and have fans all over the world.
It’s our gifts that attract people. It’s our gifts that people follow. There’s nothing wrong with that though. You just have to remember that and keep things in perspective.
It’s good to have gifts, but we must use those gifts and influence for positive things. We have to be good leaders and followers of Christ. I’d never debate who the greatest basketball player of all time is, but I’ve always liked LeBron’s “Just a kid from Akron” mentality. I feel he is confident, but also humble. I think he uses his gift for positivity, and tries to be a leader, and that’s why God has blessed him with so many years of playing basketball at the highest level.
You don’t have to be a professional athlete for others to be attracted to your gift though. You could just have charisma, be funny, very intelligent..anything.
Understand that people are attracted to your gift, not you. Use your gifts to serve others and make the world a better place. Also, surround yourself by those who genuinely care about you as a person, cause they’ll be the ones that’s still there when your gift is gone.
