Grow Together Daily

Having a baby is a constant reminder to me to continue to learn and grow. It’s a reminder to never give up, have an open mind, and be willing to learn and grow.

My daughter learns new things every day. She gets closer to her developmental milestones every day as well. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If I expect all of these things from my daughter, I should also expect them for myself.

There’s always something new to learn, there’s always room for improvement. I have to lead by example and make sure I know enough to be able to teach.

So if there’s ever something that you want someone to do or suggest that they do for their benefit, make sure you are practicing what you preach. It helps you and it will be the catalyst to positively influence them as well.

Focusing Amid Life’s Distractions

I’ve been meditating every morning for over a week now. It’s something relaxing that I like to do at the beginning of every morning. I’m still new to it, so I’m still working on trying to focus while meditating.

I still find my thoughts veering off to something random. I might start thinking about my day, what I’m going to eat for the day, random thoughts, my blog topic for the day, anything. Pretty much just a lot of distractions.

I like meditating because I think it can often foreshadow your life. If I can have all these distractions while meditating that hinder me from properly meditating, imagine the distractions I have in real life and how they are stopping me from achieving certain things in life.

We must try to get rid of all distractions in life. They come in different shapes and forms too. Your own thoughts can be a distraction, the people you hang out with, your actions, anything that deters you from your objectives in life.

So whether it’s meditating or real life, it’s key to focus on the task at hand and not let those counterproductive distractions get in the way of things.

Motivation

Urgency with Control

We should all have a sense of urgency in life. After all, we aren’t here forever.

Procrastination can often be our worst enemy. We might overanalyze things and be too slow to act. That’s not good. We can also move too fast, which can cause problems.

Although we don’t want to be slow in life, it’s good to be controlled at times. A controlled approach may involve slowing down a process to ensure precision, accuracy, or safety. There are scenarios where being deliberate and methodical (controlled) can result in a slower pace of action.

Don’t confuse that for counterproductive slowness, though. It’s about doing things as fast and urgently as you can, in a controlled way.

Embracing Yearly Progress

Today is February 1st, meaning the year is already over 8% finished. Depending on what you’ve done already, that 8% can seem like a lot of time or not that much time.

For me, it’s kind of both. The 8% is a reminder to me of how fast things move. It also encourages me because I know I still have almost 92% of the year left to do everything I set out to do.

If I do things in small percentage increments, when the year is 100% over, I’ll be satisfied.

Visualizing Success

They say that seeing is believing. That’s something that I definitely agree with.

I have done many things in my life and plan to do many more, just based on seeing others succeed before me and realizing that it’s possible.

Some people can’t believe it until they see results, though. Those are the types who might not want to start a new endeavor with you until they see results, and then they’ll try to join along. By that time, it’s too late.

No matter what it is, we must start with the end in mind. If there’s no one or nothing to model after, that’s fine. Visualize your future self achieving whatever it is you want, and let that be your belief and motivation.

I’ve won a lot of first-place ribbons running track, and every race that I took first place in, I had already visualized myself winning days before. The same goes for life. Once I see and believe, my actions start to follow, leading to whatever I set out to do.

Embracing Daily Practice

Every day involves practice.

Whether intentional or unintentional, we engage in some form of practice.

Practice leads to improvement, so it’s important to focus on something worthwhile.

However, it’s crucial to be mindful of practicing bad habits, as we can become adept at things that are not beneficial.

Priceless Unconditional Love

Unconditional love is priceless.

It’s one of the best things you can give and receive.

Giving it takes patience, empathy, understanding, and the ability to forgive.

Receiving it makes you feel comfortable and secure.

It’s something we may not receive from everyone, but something we should strive to give to everyone.

Focus Through New Habits

Last night, I deleted all social media apps from my phone. I will keep it that way for at least a week.

It’s good to switch things up every once in a while. There are other new habits that I’d like to form and many things that I need to do. Something as small as deleting all social media apps can make a big difference. It throws a wrench in my usual daily activities, so it’s a reminder to stay focused on the task at hand.

It’s like the racing horse. They can run very fast, but they’ll probably run faster and more efficiently when they have on blinders, creating a “tunnel vision” effect.

Embracing the Present for Change

All problems or challenges in life naturally sort themselves out as soon as you take action in the present.

You can’t change where you currently are in the present because that’s based on all the decisions you made in the past. If you do what’s needed to be done in the present, though, you can change your past for the better.

Any mistake that I make, or any actions I took that led me to a predicament that I didn’t want to be in, I try not to dwell on those things too much. Instead, I think of what’s the next right move to make. The next set of actions I can take so the future me is better off.

Time doesn’t go back, and neither do you have to. Continue to move forward no matter what and be ready to make the right choices for a better future.

The future is often closer than we think. That’s a good or bad thing, depending on what we’re doing in the present.

Parenting Epiphanies

The other week, I said, “I haven’t had a bad day since my daughter was born.” That’s still how I feel.

Every day with her is a blessing and full of adventures. I think another underlying reason I haven’t had a bad day since she’s been born is because she (and all kids) brings good traits out of me like positive affirmations, a positive attitude, motivation, and even consoling.

All day, I use positive affirmations with my baby. I tell her what she can do and good things about her. I encourage her daily, I do things to make her happy, I console her when she isn’t. I help her learn and do new things daily.

I think me doing those things daily naturally has a positive impact on me and even my subconscious. She brings out traits that I shouldn’t just have towards just her, but everyone, including myself. So that’s exactly what I’ll do.
