Creating Future Through Choices

They say hindsight is 20/20. It is easier to understand or judge a situation after it has happened than when you are in the moment.

Luckily, humans are really good at planning for the future in ways that animals usually aren’t. So, we can look into the future before we even partake in an action, with a hindsight approach.

We should look at all the possible outcomes from an action before we do them. This can save us from a lot of stress and from a lot of bad decisions.

Growing up, those WWJD wristbands were very popular. They looked cool to wear, but most importantly, they were a constant reminder to keep making the right decisions.

It’s key to create some kind of method or habit to assess the effects of your actions rather than always having hindsight. You can create a better future for yourself simply by making the right choices in the present.

Living with Purpose

Finding your purpose and doing what you love can sometimes be a matter of life and death.

Most of the older people that I know are still very active. I know guys who are still working well into their 70s and are still full of life. It’s often that occupation or passion for something that keeps us alive.

When I was in the NFL, I had a coach who was very old. He really didn’t do much, but he still attends every meeting and practice. My veteran teammates would tell me that some older guys like him, who have been coaching their entire lives, need to continue to do so. It’s often when they stop coaching that they die.

I think we all have something in life that we can do that gives us life. Likewise, there are things that when we stop doing them, we may lose our life.

It’s about finding your purpose and your passion and literally doing it as long as you can, or as long as you enjoy it. If you have yet to find a passion or your purpose, you may have yet to live.

Empowering Self-Esteem

I recently met an older man who owns a few businesses. He said that when hiring employees, a must-have is self-esteem. He said he asks certain questions to find out about their self-esteem, and it’s a deal-breaker if they do not have it.

I understand what he means because self-esteem is a must-have for anything that we do in life. Sometimes it’s not our actual skills and abilities that hold us back, but our self-esteem.

We often underestimate what we can actually do. We also often give up or lose confidence and hope when things are hard or when there are uncertainties.

No matter what you do in life, there will be a lot of obstacles or just moments where self-esteem will be one of the only things to get you over that hump. You’ll always have doubters or others that think negatively about you. Just make sure you aren’t one of them.

Leap Year Celebrations!

Happy Leap Year!

One extra day to get more things done in February. Also, one extra day to relax before rent is due, lol.

Happy birthday to those who hardly ever get to celebrate their calendar birthday; live it up until your next birthday in four years.

Timely Travel Lessons

Laws, regulations, and even suggestions are often there to help us, not hurt us. It’s when we don’t follow these things that we have problems.

It’s suggested to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure. This morning I got to the airport 33 minutes before my flight took off.

I’m on the plane as I write this, sweating, still trying to catch my breath from running to my gate. I made it, but it was a struggle. I would have been much better off if I followed the suggestion and got there far ahead of my flight.

Don’t be like me, lol.

Empowering Your Willpower Journey

One thing that can help us a lot when it comes to success, achieving goals, and just being a good person is willpower.

Willpower is the ability to control and resist impulses to achieve long-term goals or overcome obstacles. It’s something that we can all work on and improve, and something we must have when navigating through life.

A lot of times we know right from wrong. We know the consequences of our decisions, but our willpower is sometimes not strong enough to withhold from making those bad decisions.

Practicing self-discipline, setting clear goals, and developing healthy habits can help improve willpower. It’s something to think about when you’re trying to achieve something in life and you are presented with situations or opportunities that are counterproductive to your goals.

Consistent Learning Journey

A lot of times when we are learning something new, we seek advice on the best way to learn it. What resources are the best, what people can help, etc.

To be honest, the best way doesn’t really matter; what matters is that you put effort into it consistently. It’s about just starting and consistently trying.

A lot of times, you’ll naturally find your way. Just start the journey and be consistent.

Importance of Trust

Trust is one of those things that, once established, can be very beneficial for any relationship or situation.

In most situations, it’s a big problem when you don’t have it. It’s something we must earn and something we must give to others. Every day I step outside, I must trust everyone to follow the laws, whether traffic or criminal.

Trust takes much longer to rebuild than it does to build originally, so it’s one of those things you’d be better off not breaking at all. It’s key to try to avoid certain circles or certain people where trust is not a reliable or valued trait because this will protect you from deceit, betrayal, and harm.

Power of Positive Attitude: Impact

A lot of times, the outcome of a situation, or even our productivity or happiness, comes from our attitude.

Two people can experience the same situation but can have two different outcomes based on their attitude. Your attitude can increase productivity or decrease it. It can make you happy or mad; it can make life enjoyable or miserable.

Attitude is one of the few things that we do have control over, so it’s key to keep the right attitude no matter what, for it will be the catalyst for a lot of things in our lives.

Counting the Cost: Consider Before Committing

Everything that we do costs something.

You can have a habit that costs you a lot of money, time, or even reputation. The price we pay for our actions is often not foreseen or instant.

We often don’t realize the price we pay for our actions until afterward or until we are no longer doing the action and see different results.

We also may have dreams or aspirations that require us to pay some kind of price. You may have to invest actual money in yourself or pay with your time and energy.

Before making a goal or even a habit, for that matter, look at the price that you have to pay for it. Is it worth the cost? If so, go for it. If not, maybe try something else.
