Look for the positive

Look for the positive in the things that are done and said to you. A lot of times people say things to us that can be taken in a negative or positive way. Choose to look for the positive.

Not everyone is out to get you or have something negative to say or do to you. It can be your own insecurities that make you think such a thing. Even if someone legitimately means bad to you, still try to find positivity in the situation.

You can find positivity in any situation. Nothing is all negative. Keep that in mind when interacting with others, as well as when you’re critiquing yourself.

Step by step

Don’t get overwhelmed by that big goal or task that has to be done. Break it down into small, achievable actions, and get there step by step.

It’s the continuous progression forward that gets us to our destination. Not every step will be as big as the other, but as long as you’re trying to put your best foot forward, you’re good.

The race is not to the swift, so take your time and get to the finish line, step by step. Like Nipsey Hussle would say, “the marathon continues”.

Embrace your supporters

There’s always a person or a group of people who’s support would be very beneficial for you. Don’t get too caught up on them though. Embrace the support that you already have, no matter how big or small it is.

It’s easy to always look at who doesn’t support or who’d we want to support. That’s thinking about the wrong things. Don’t take for granted those who already do support. Listen to them. Hear what they have to say in order to help you succeed in life.

Embrace and appreciate those who already support you and let the other supporters come eventually over time. You might think you need a specific person or a certain number of new supporters to reach a new milestone in life, but realistically the people you need to succeed are already in your corner. Believe in them as much as they believe in you.

Who do you surround yourself with to get through life challenges?

To get through life challenges, you have to surround yourself with believers. I think they should have faith in God and in you as an individual. They have to believe that you can get through any challenge.

You should surround yourself with people who have good character. When times get hard, it’s easy to try to find an easy way out of things. That might involve breaking your morals and ethics. This can hurt you even more, so you gotta make sure you are around others who make good choices and are good people.

You should should surround yourself with people who are driven and have goals. That’s the type of energy you need to be around to succeed. When you are around other driven people, it keeps you on the right track.

You should surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable. Sometimes we are the reason why we are in a challenging situation in life. We need others around us to point out our weak spots or actions we can change for improvement.

You should surround yourself with positivity and happiness. Things won’t always be good, but you should still have the right mindset no matter what.

You should surround yourself with people that have done and seen things that you haven’t. They can give you a different perspective on things, and also help you reach new heights.

It’s key to surround yourself with the right people to get through life challenges, but it’s also key to be the kind of person that people would want to surround themselves with to get through their own life challenges.

Proper adjustments

Life is about making the small adjustments that might go unnoticed. It’s the daily challenge of getting a little bit better at something. Everyone has different dreams and aspirations in life, so everyone will have to make different adjustments throughout life.

Someone’s life could look the same as usual on the outside looking in, but maybe that person you are observing has made adjustments mentally, or spiritually. A lot of adjustments that we make in life take time to show.

In sports, you watch film after every practice and game, then you make the proper adjustments and go do it again with the intentions of performing better than the last time. That’s the same approach I take with everything that I do.

If my day doesn’t go as planned, I try to think of what I can change for the next day to have a more productive day. Same for anything else in my life.

It’s key to continue to make adjustments in your life. It shows you that you can always improve, and whatever situation you are in at the moment can change for the better. You never have to accept something you are not happy with. You just have to make the proper adjustments to change.

You can learn from anyone

I hate when people say things like “ I not listening to anybody that is doing worse than me”, or like how Kanye says “I got more money than you, so why would I listen to you”.

We can learn from literally any and everyone. There are things a young child can teach me, as well as a homeless person. We all have unique experiences in life and have something to give.

I am open to learn from anyone. Rather it’s from their mistakes or their secrets to success. I am open to learn from anyone, the same way I hope someone will be open to learn from me.

I think you can find a lesson in every interaction that you have in life. Take that approach and learn something from someone else every day.

It’s not you, it’s your gift

If LeBron James wasn’t great at basketball, he probably wouldn’t have 148 million followers on Instagram and have fans all over the world. If Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t great at soccer, he probably wouldn’t have 561 million followers on Instagram and have fans all over the world.

It’s our gifts that attract people. It’s our gifts that people follow. There’s nothing wrong with that though. You just have to remember that and keep things in perspective.

It’s good to have gifts, but we must use those gifts and influence for positive things. We have to be good leaders and followers of Christ. I’d never debate who the greatest basketball player of all time is, but I’ve always liked LeBron’s “Just a kid from Akron” mentality. I feel he is confident, but also humble. I think he uses his gift for positivity, and tries to be a leader, and that’s why God has blessed him with so many years of playing basketball at the highest level.

You don’t have to be a professional athlete for others to be attracted to your gift though. You could just have charisma, be funny, very intelligent..anything.

Understand that people are attracted to your gift, not you. Use your gifts to serve others and make the world a better place. Also, surround yourself by those who genuinely care about you as a person, cause they’ll be the ones that’s still there when your gift is gone.

We trust you

It has been rainy the past couple days in SoCal. Yesterday I was making a left turn after exiting the highway, and a guy in a pickup truck to the right of me lost control of his truck and spun out into other lanes, ending with his truck facing the wrong direction on the road.

Luckily no other cars were close enough to get hit, and luckily I was able to see the situation and slow down. It was crazy cause I wasn’t sure if he lost control because of the rain, or if he was intentionally trying to drive erratic and hurt others. I wasn’t trying to find out though LOL. I kept driving and looked at the guy in my rear view mirror to make sure he was ok. He eventually turned his truck back around and was ok to proceed driving.

This made me think about how much we trust each other on a daily basis. Every time you get on the road, you are trusting others to follow the traffic laws and drive appropriately. Driving is dangerous. You are putting a lot of trust in millions of people that you do not know. The same goes for anytime you are in public.

We have to trust others to follow the laws, to make good choices, to be good people. We can’t control them though. That’s understandable. There will be times when people don’t follow the laws, and accidents and tragedies will happen. But if you’ve ever seen a car accident, you know that eventually that road will be clear, and things will be back to normal. That’s life.

You might put your trust in someone and they end up doing something that breaks that trust, and it may hurt you. Life goes on though. Can’t dwell on it for too long, and you can’t have trust issues moving forward. You will only hinder yourself. If you know someone who gets anxiety or something while driving, you’ll see that really they are just causing a problem for themselves. You should be a defensive driver, but you still have to trust others in order to drive peacefully. You should be defensive in life, but you still need to truth others for things to function correctly. You have to trust God most importantly. When you don’t, you’ll just hurt yourself.

Rather it’s driving or life, the best way to trust others and make sure no “accidents” happen is to do things correctly yourself. If everyone starts with themselves, the world ( or the road) will be a better place. Be a good driver. Be a good person. This will keep the road and the world safe and functional.

Follow the traffic laws in order to get to your destination safely. Follow the laws of success and the teachings of God in life, and you’ll get to your life destination safely also. If you do not, accidents will happen, and you might not get to your destination. It’s possible though. I trust you.

Your body tells the truth

I love the human body because it tells the objective truth. We often like to lie to ourselves, but the body keeps it real.

The body is just a reflection of our actions. If I eat unhealthy food and do not exercise, my body will soon respond and let me know. I might begin to gain weight, my joints might begin to hurt, my energy might begin to decrease. If I do not take proper care of my dental hygiene, my teeth may decay or change in color. If I don’t get enough sleep, I may get bags under my eyes. No matter the result, I can’t get mad at nobody (no pun intended) but myself for the way I look and feel.

It’s key to become one with our body, and to also listen and respond properly to our body. At all times our body is telling us things. Unfortunately, we don’t always listen. That is bad. In sports, not listening to your body can result to injuries. In life, not listening to your body can result to death.

The body is honest and can teach us about life. It is key to control what we can control. When you properly control your body, it will respond positively.

Another lesson our body can give us is that we are not in control of everything. There are a lot of things that can happen to our bodies like cancers, diseases, sicknesses, that we can not control. That is ok. We must focus on the things that we can control. Can’t worry and stress about things not in our control.

Life is the same way. Our lives are a reflection of our actions. At the same time, there are things in our life that is out of our control. Focus on what you can control, and let God handle the rest. Rather it’s your body or your life, you can control your actions and your attitude. Make sure both are consistent to your body & life goals. If you don’t have any body or life goals, make some. If not, you’re allowing something or someone else to make them for you.

Do it because you can

We have dominion over everything in life. That’s how God made it for us. With that being said, we have to keep that dominion in all aspects of life, at all times.

There are times when the thought/feeling of “ I don’t feel like doing this” kicks in my head. It can be something as simple as not feeling like working out today. Whenever I have that thought or feeling, I force myself to go workout because I have the dominion over my life. I can’t let laziness have dominion over me and control what I can and can’t do.

There will be times you will not feel like doing something that you know you should do. You should do it because you can. It’s a reminder to yourself that you are in control, and a reminder of your blessings.

We all have our vices. Make sure you are in control of that vice, and that the vice isn’t in control of you. I know people who feel as if they can’t function a certain way unless they smoke weed, or drink alcohol or something else. They might not realize it, but they are giving something else control of their lives.

We all have gifts. There are things that you are capable of doing that others can’t. That’s why you should do it. I post a blog every day because I can and I’m willing. It’s that simple.

Doing things cause you can is valuable because it will teach you how to be consistent, and just give you the confidence that will help you achieve more than those who only do things when they feel like it.
