Childlike Pursuits

I enjoy watching children begin to play a new sport. Their joy during training and excitement when they score in their sport is captivating.

It’s especially amazing to witness their gradual improvement over years of practice. I appreciate this because we all start as beginners in something.

With time and effort, we can see ourselves progress in any area we choose, just like children improve in sports over time. There’s nothing wrong with being a novice.

Embrace the process and believe that one day you’ll become more skilled. If there’s something you want to learn or master, remember it’s never too late or too early to start. Chase after it.

Goodness Breeds Success

Being a good person can help you avoid numerous problems in life. Moreover, it can attract blessings your way.

If you possess good character, you are already halfway towards achieving your dreams and aspirations. Many exceptional athletes I have encountered maintain their excellence in sports due to their good character as well.

Prioritize setting goals and envisioning your life. Ensure that being a good person and possessing good character rank high on that list.

From Steps to Miles

Often, we have grand aspirations that require numerous significant steps to accomplish. However,it’s often the minor actions or steps that have the most profound impact on our journey towards our goals.

These actions can be as simple as altering our attitude or waking up an hour earlier each morning. Unfortunately, these small actions often go unnoticed or undervalued when striving for achievement. Yet, they hold a lot of significance.

It is essential to recognize that even the smallest steps can propel us a great distance towards our cherished dreams or objectives.

Your desired goal may initially appear overwhelming or time-consuming, remember that every small step taken brings you closer to it. Dare to dream big and appreciate the significance of the little strides taken along the way.

Work, Progress, Breakthroughs

It often appears that you can invest a significant amount of effort into acquiring new skills or academic knowledge, yet progress doesn’t happen as quickly as expected.

You can train for a sport for an extended period of time and see little improvement, but then suddenly everything falls into place.

You can dedicate years to learning a language and feel like you’ve reached a plateau, only to have a breakthrough moment where everything clicks and you become fluent.

This pattern repeats itself regardless of what we pursue. The key is to remain focused on putting in the work, as the results will inevitably come, sometimes when we least anticipate them.

Embrace the excitement of this process. Maintain faith in God and in yourself, and witness the rewards that will come your way. It’s possible.

Engage and Enjoy: From Watching to Doing

Growing up with a lot of siblings can be a fun. Having someone to play with is always a joy.

However, the fun quickly fades when it’s time to play video games and the waiting game begins. The minutes would feel like hours as I patiently waited for my turn while my brothers or sister were engrossed in the game.

Through this experience, I’ve discovered a fundamental truth about myself—I’d much rather be an active player than a mere observer.

This mentality extends beyond gaming. I prefer immersing myself in activities that captivate and bring me happiness, rather than passively watching others enjoy them. After all, why settle for being a spectator when you can be a participant?

While watching my siblings play, I learned the value of patience. It taught me the importance of waiting for my turn, but also instilled a mindset of making the most out of my time to shine.

So, whatever ideas or interests light your fire, go out and pursue them! The joy and fulfillment you’ll experience by actively engaging in your passions far outweigh the pleasure of watching from the sidelines.

Not only will you gain knowledge and skills, but you’ll also excel in your chosen craft. Watching may have its moments, but doing is where true fulfillment lies.

Action Defines Your True Self

Every action you take reflects who you are. While you may not have control over every situation you find yourself in, you do have control over your own actions and the effort you put forth.

Just because you dislike your job doesn’t mean you should underperform every day. This speaks more about your character than the job itself. Even if you are not fond of the team you are on, it is important to still give your best effort. It all comes down to your mindset.

A truly good employee will always be a good employee, regardless of the job. Similarly, a skilled player will always be skilled, regardless of the team they are on. Ultimately, it is a battle against yourself. Strive to give your best in every relationship and circumstance because, at the end of the day, your actions are a reflection of who you are.

The Ripple Effect: Choices

All of our choices have consequences, but what we often overlook is how our choices affect those around us. As parents, the choices we make greatly impact our children. The choices athletes make impact their teams, while the choices employees make impact their employers, and so on.

While you may be okay with the consequences of your choices, it is important to remember that they have a significant impact on those around you. Ensure that your choices also consider the best interests of others.

Consistency: A Winning Trait

Consistency is crucial in all aspects of life. It builds trust in relationships and ensures reliability.

In sports, consistent performance is valued over occasional flashes of greatness.

Being consistent is essential for achieving goals and creating meaningful change in our lives.

If we find ourselves unsatisfied with our current situation, it may be due to a lack of consistency.

Embracing the Sore Phase

I love the feeling of being sore for a few days after a challenging workout. It signifies that I have pushed myself and accomplished something new.

This soreness, also known as muscle soreness or DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), indicates that my muscles have been stressed and are adapting to a higher level of physical activity. It shows that I have caused small micro-tears in the muscle fibers, which will eventually lead to increased strength and resilience as my body repairs them.

The sore phase can occur not only from working out but also from trying new habits, starting a new job, or dealing with a challenging life situation. It’s important to embrace this discomfort as it signifies growth and progress. Remember that the sore phase is temporary but necessary for personal development and improvement.

Goals: Your Path to Success

People often discuss the importance of goals, which can lead to the topic becoming repetitive and cliché.

However, goals truly are crucial. Having a specific target to strive for makes it easier to find success, rather than relying on chance alone. For students, good goals are essential for achieving success. Similarly, employees cannot perform at their best without company goals.

On a personal level, reaching one’s full potential requires setting specific goals. Without goals, we lack a clear direction and a way to measure our progress or identify stagnation. This can lead to feelings of unhappiness or a lack of purpose in life.

Having goals helps combat these feelings. Even within religious contexts, goals are prevalent. Therefore, it is beneficial to set goals in every aspect of life, as they provide motivation and a sense of purpose. So, set goals and strive to achieve them.
