Excuses: Breaking the Cycle

A quote that I like that a coach would always tell us is “excuses only satisfy those who make them.”

Excuses may satisfy only those who make them, but they harm everyone around. Your actions affect others. When you don’t meet expectations, you disappoint yourself and others. Excuses have a negative impact.

Instead, be accountable, seek solutions, and think of those who depend on you. Don’t let excuses hurt them or yourself. No more excuses.

Beyond Underdog Limitations

No matter the situation, you never have to be the underdog.

Being the underdog simply means others expect you to lose or face significant challenges. However, their thoughts and opinions do not have to define your reality.

The only time you truly become an underdog is when you start believing it yourself.

Always maintain faith in your skills, abilities, and self. You have the power to reject the underdog label if you choose. And for those who perceive you as one, you can prove them wrong as you progress.

Intentional Pursuits

I have been waking up earlier than usual for the past few weeks, even on weekends when I don’t have many morning obligations. I realized the benefits of waking up early in life and made a deliberate decision to do so. Now, it has become effortless for me.

Often, we complicate things unnecessarily. We may desire something but find excuses for not pursuing it or fail to take deliberate actions to achieve our goals.

Let’s avoid overcomplicating things. If you want something, think about the necessary actions and then act deliberately. Stay consistent, and eventually, you will achieve whatever you set out to do. Things are much simpler than we perceive them to be.

Motivation

Stick To The Script

In football, teams often create a script for their initial 15 offensive plays, which is based on studying their opponents. These plays serve to challenge the defense and benefit the team.

The first 15 play script sets the tone for the game. The important thing about the script is to adhere to it. Even if the first 3 plays don’t work, it’s crucial to persevere and execute the next 12 planned plays. Usually, one or two of those plays will unfold as intended and lead to success.

The key is to maintain confidence and stick to the script. This approach applies to our lives as well. By devising a plan for success and following it, we may encounter unexpected obstacles along the way. However, having faith and staying committed to the script or the principles of success will ultimately lead to triumph. Don’t panic when things don’t go your way, and most importantly, never give up. Stick to the script, and in the end, everything will be fine.

Trusting Instincts

Always trust your instincts. If something feels off, there’s likely a valid reason behind it.

Avoid rushing into things. Often, we become so fixated on what we desire that we ignore warning signs. At such times, our morals and values should guide us. Upholding good morals and values can help us avoid many problems.

When we desperately want something, including someone, we may compromise our principles or find ourselves in avoidable situations. Remember that what is meant for you will come naturally. Problems arise when we try to force things.

Unwavering Motivation

I often find it easier to have energy and motivation for various tasks at the beginning of the week. However, as the week progresses, I tend to lose momentum.

While I may still accomplish what I set out to do, it may not be as time-efficient, and my attitude towards time may diminish compared to the start of the week.

Many people experience a similar pattern, where they set New Year’s resolutions but struggle to maintain them beyond March. It is important to anticipate and prepare for those days when our drive and enthusiasm may decrease.

By acknowledging that such days will occur, we can push ourselves even harder during those times. This allows us to demonstrate consistent energy and dedication towards our goals.

Go a little harder on the hard days. Those are the ones that count the most.

Favorable Odds

If you’ve watched the movie series “Hunger Games,” you probably remember the popular saying used by the game officials before everyone started competing: “May the odds be ever in your favor.”

While life isn’t exactly like the Hunger Games, we still rely on favorable odds in certain situations. Just as in the movie, real-life success requires skills, preparation, and often overlooked, faith. Faith is a crucial characteristic to possess, regardless of your pursuits or plans. Having the required skills to succeed can better your odds at whatever you choose to pursue.

I hope that the odds are always in your favor and that you adequately prepare, have faith, and persevere on your journey. Best of luck in whatever “game” you are about to enter; go out there and win.

Happiness Beyond Possessions

It is common to desire materialistic things in life, such as new clothes, a house, a new car and more. We often believe that acquiring these items will bring us happiness, and sometimes they do.

However, it doesn’t mean we can’t be happy without them or that they are the ultimate source of fulfillment.

There are other valuable things we can obtain or do that can bring us equal or greater happiness, such as adopting a new mindset, cultivating a positive attitude, making new friends, developing new habits and goals, and so on. What’s even better is that many of these things require little to no money.

It’s important not to place all our value in material possessions and to recognize that regardless of our current circumstances, there are numerous actions we can take immediately to bring more happiness and purpose into our lives.

Lessons of Resilience

You may currently be undergoing a testimony, where your present experiences will eventually serve to enlighten others about your journey and offer insights into your own self-discovery.

The challenges you face now can potentially assist others in similar circumstances and equip you with valuable knowledge for any future encounters.

Embrace the opportunity to share with others that you refused to give up, maintained unwavering faith, and were accompanied by the presence of God.

Remember that whatever you are presently encountering is only temporary, and the wisdom and growth gained from these experiences can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for others.
